So we mailed Gabriel's and Jocelyn's application for enrollment at our neighborhood school in the next school year. Thanks to the USeless Postal Service (USPS), their package only got to a post office a couple of miles from the Oakland Unified School District. According to the OUSD website, the school assignment notices would have been mailed out two days ago. Our neighbor forwards our mail to us once a month, which means we probably would not find out the kids' assignment for weeks if we were to wait for the forwarded mail. I emailed Mr. B. at OUSD (who graciously printed out our electronic versions and used them for the application) and he told us that the kids got back into the neighborhood school. The problem we have now is to find a way to register them at the school, in person, in April.
